Bio
Kieran Casey is a biracial composer and director from Richmond, Virginia, who incorporates musical influences from Japanese compositions, marching drum corps, black hymns, folk songs, and jazz into his work. His music aims to create a timeless narrative experience, inspired by his childhood memories of listening to his brother's guitar playing and the enchanting world of anime. Casey received his Bachelor's degree in Music Education and Composition from Virginia Polytechnic State University in 2023 and is currently studying at the prestigious Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University. His passions lie in film scoring and exploring diverse cultures, as evident in his projects that seamlessly blend these two worlds. In 2022, Casey's first major produced short film, titled "The Tale of Two Brothers," was released. Inspired by "Avatar: The Last Airbender", the short film delves into controversial topics such as religion and corrupt governments. Casey dedicated his heart and soul to creating this epic, leaving him captivated by the journey. This newfound passion ignited his love for multimedia, propelling him to aspire to create more films in the future with the same profound mission as his music. In addition to composing and filmmaking, teaching young musicians is an integral part of Casey's life. He aspires to mentor and nurture the next generation of multimedia and music creators, guiding them to reach their full potential. After completing his master's degree in Music for New Media at Peabody, Casey plans to pursue a Doctorate in Ethnomusicology. He hopes to learn more about world music as he pursues a career in multimedia inspired by the beauty of cultures around the world.
